Employees trained in CPR and the use of an AED become a vital link between the victim and Emergency Medical Technicians

CPR & AED Training

Midwestern Contractors and Electric Conduit Construction completed annual training on the use of CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Our Directors of HSE delivered the course content. This training prepares our foremen for emergency situations involving sudden cardiac arrest or heart attacks.

CPR is used when a person’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. This typically occurs in emergency situations like cardiac arrest, heart attacks, near drowning, or electrical shock. CPR is a life-saving procedure that helps maintain blood flow and oxygen to the brain until medical help arrives.

AED is used to restore a normal heart rhythm when someone is experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, which is when the heart suddenly stops beating effectively. Time is of the essence in these situations since life slips away the rate of 10% per minute if CPR or AED is not applied.

CPR and AED training take five hours, and to maintain competency and certification, this training is repeated every two years.

Construction projects require fitness and strength. Even in the best of situations accidents and injury can occur. Stress from heat, exertion or cold can cause heart problems. When a person goes into cardiac arrest it is very important for the responder to control panic, assign tasks and focus on administering CPR or deployment of the AED. Our Foremen are prepared with this type of training as well as first aid training.

No matter the circumstance, our employees can be a vital link, extending a victim’s life until emergency medical services arrive. Midwestern Contractors and Electric Conduit Construction are proud of our HSE Directors, Safety Coordinators and Foreman for conducting this training.
